Who needs it in Texas
- Every vehicle on Texas roads needs at least 30/60/25 liability (TDI). Business use usually calls for a commercial policy.
- A personal auto policy may not cover a vehicle used mainly for business. Tell your agent how the vehicle is used.
- Carriers that haul goods or passengers for hire, or that cross state lines, may face higher federal or Texas DMV requirements (FMCSA, TxDMV).
- Contracts and clients often ask for proof of higher limits.
Common questions
Do I need commercial auto if I use my truck for work?
Often yes. Personal policies may exclude or limit business use. We will look at how you use the vehicle.
What are the minimum limits?
Texas requires at least 30/60/25 liability for any vehicle. Interstate and for-hire carriers may need more under federal and state rules.
Does it cover my employees driving?
Listed drivers on company vehicles can be covered. Hired and non-owned auto coverage helps when they use other vehicles for work.
Can I bundle it with general liability?
Many carriers write both. We can quote them together.
